Southeastern Communication Service, Inc. (SECS) has been awarded a contract to install preliminary infrastructure to overcome moisture problems at the Gulf front resort. The innovative system will have the capability for future utilization of wireless broadband technology. Through it, Sarasota area businesses, civil and emergency services as well as visitors will have immediate access to a wide range of computer information, internet and e-mail services. Jim Mohan, SECS lead wireless technician and designer of the network, is heading the installation of more than 15,000 feet of data cabling and wireless devices in the 12 story building. “Wireless technology provides an economical central infrastructure which can be used for voice, video, security applications and much more. This installation is an example of the unlimited directions wireless networking can span,” says Mohan. The Promenade will join previously completed installations of access points, antennas and transmitter service panels on downtown buildings and at Siesta Key Beach, Lido Key, Marina Jack and various other Sarasota County facilities. In addition to private and business access, the system is available for police, fire protection and emergency services.
